Trackpoint disables touchpad
I'm a Thinkpad user attempting to migrate from X11 to Wayland and I noticed that whenever I use the Trackpoint, the Touchpad is disabled for a brief period of time.
I'm used to the old Synaptics driver in X11 that allows me to use both at the same time with no delay, adding up nicely and intuitively, but with libinput, both on X11 or Wayland, I couldn't find an option to allow that behaviour.
After some research, I found and ran libinput debug-events
and noticed that I don't get Touchpad events at all when the Trackpoint is being moved. The output looks like this, where event17
(Trackpoint) and event15
(Touchpad) never interleave even though I'm moving both at the same time:
...
event17 POINTER_MOTION +1.820s -2.19/ 2.19 ( -2.00/ +2.00)
event17 POINTER_MOTION +1.844s -1.91/ 0.95 ( -2.00/ +1.00)
event17 POINTER_MOTION +1.869s -4.00/ 2.67 ( -3.00/ +2.00)
...
event17 POINTER_MOTION +2.126s 0.00/ 0.46 ( +0.00/ +1.00)
-event15 POINTER_MOTION +2.433s 0.00/ 0.50 ( +0.00/ +5.73)
event15 POINTER_MOTION +2.446s 0.00/ 1.95 ( +0.00/+11.46)
event15 POINTER_MOTION +2.458s 1.09/ 4.94 ( +6.00/+27.21)
...
This is issue is related to #387 (closed), but in this case I do want to use the Touchpad, not only click the buttons. Especially, I'd like to be able to move mouse with Touchpad and also do a two-finger scroll to move pages up and down.
Could we please have an option to allow both to work at the same time?
Thank you!
