Unlocking desktop freezes laptop

When trying to unlock desktop after being locked for a while, the whole laptop freezes and I have to hard reset.

If unlocking immediately after locking, it works fine. And "suspension" doesn't trigger this issue.

This is hybrid graphics laptop but I'm using the Intel driver as primary.

Can you test with the nvidia GPU disabled?

There is no option in the BIOS to do that.

But nvidia shouldn't be used in the current configuration.

And if nvidia is set as the primary GPU, this issue doesn't happen.

Unfortunate. Can you then blacklist nouveau to make sure it does absolutely nothing? There is already a big fat warning from nouveau in your dmesg so clearly that thing is unhealthy.

I blacklisted it and the issue didn't happen again so far however the fan is constantly running fast and loud without any load, before I blacklisted nouveau, the fan RPM was 0 most of the time.

Hmm. Not sure we can force the nvidia GPU into D3 without a driver. I think the pci code skips D3 for devices without a driver. But there is some kind of note that it might end up D3 if the bridge goes to D3. So could try the following to enable runtime pm for both the dGPU and its bridge:

echo auto > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:59\:00.0/power/control
echo auto > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:00\:1c.4/power/control

I left it locked for longer time and the issue occurred, so obviously it's not the nouveau as it's blacklisted.
