Meson does not check float word order
As pointer out by @kloczek in #459 (comment 819795): The test from build/aclocal.float.m4
is not done by meson. This file contains a test to check which "word order" floats are stored in.
The check was added in commit 5376e474 without much explanation. I would guess it was preparation for the following commit: 4cd50965
The code from this m4 says the following about its m4 macro:
Checks the ordering of words within a multi-word float. This check is necessary because on some systems (e.g. certain ARM systems), the float word ordering can be different from the byte ordering.
No idea how to find a "certain ARM system" to test this on...
(Reporting this as an issue since some people talked about getting rid of autotools and using meson exclusively. I'm trying to populate https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/cairo/cairo/-/issues?scope=all&utf8=%E2%9C%93&state=opened&label_name[]=6.%20meson a bit more so that we can have something like a list of blockers.)
