Possible lack in documentation: Option "AccelMethod" "string" on i915 kernel module
Targeting lack area
On the https://jlk.fjfi.cvut.cz/arch/manpages/man/intel.4 page there is the section
The following driver Options are supported for the 830M and later chipsets:
and
Option "Accel" "boolean"
,
Option "AccelMethod" "string"
in it.
Experiment
I tried to use
Option "Accel" "false"
and saw certain visual defects I never saw before.
Than instead of the option above I tried
Option "AccelMethod" "none"
and saw the same certain visual defects which I saw was with Option "Accel" "false"
.
1 fix) If it is true by actual driver API, may be will be good to clarify by mention in doc what both parameters-values lines has the same effect?
Then instead of all above lines I tried
Option "AccelMethod" "off"
but I saw no certain visual effects as was with "none"
value
2 fix) If it is true by actual driver API, than "off"
value is fake/obsolete/non-working.
Thank you for your work!
Looks like I have i915 kernel module (you can see it my bug reports in another project: drm/intel#2187 )
CPU is Intel Core i5-8250U with Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU on-die as the only GPU in the system. ( https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/124967/intel-core-i5-8250u-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-40-ghz.html )
