Clickpad difficult to use without causing two-finger scroll events
I'm having a recurring problem with the touchpad on a Dell Precision laptop (5520). When I try to click something with the clickpad area of the touchpad, I'm triggering two-finger scrolls and sometimes I miss the target I intended to click.
Steps to reproduce:
- Use index finger to move pointer to desired click target.
- Without lifting index finger, use thumb to click the lower-left area of the clickpad.
If your thumb or index finger move even slightly during step 2, it's recognized as a two-finger scroll event. It's starting to drive me crazy, and I'm trying to retrain myself to use tap-to-click rather than clicking the physical clickpad.
I can imagine some possible fixes:
- do not consider fingers in the clickpad region (lowest ~10% of the touchpad area) for two-finger scroll events
- increase the amount of motion required to begin two-finger scrolling
- ignore two-finger scrolling when the two fingers are very far apart (such as the thumb and index finger scenario)
(Each of these introduces a risk of false negatives for users who are trying to two-finger scroll, but I imagine touchpad drivers usually need this kind of tuning to feel natural.)
In the mean time, is it possible to dial down the sensitivity on two-finger scroll events so that I don't trigger them accidentally? I still like using two-finger scroll and don't want to disable it entirely.
