There is a problem with the keyboard layout of my country (Nepal).
It's very hard to get open parenthesis and closing parenthesis. This is what a normal keyboard works for Nepali typing:
Shift + 9 = (
Shift + 0 = )
This is what GNOME keyword respond for Nepali typing:
Shift + 9 = 9 (This doesn't make sense.)
Shift + 0 = ॰ (This is never used in Nepal AFAIK. This is used in India.)
This will/has created a huge problem in almost all government offices if they want to use/adapt Linux as their main OS all around Nepal. Under, Windows and MAC above problems mentioned above are not seen as you can see in this picture:
(Bonus problem) The word which comes out of:
Shift + L = ळ
Shift + > = ॥
These are never used in Nepal AFAIK. This is a Sanskrit word. Removing it won't make any difference. It's completely useless. So instead of using it, if we put क्ष or त्र or ज्ञ it would make so much sense. Because these three are the core alphabet letter as you can see in the last three alphabets.
Note:
- Indian alphabets are the superset of the Nepali alphabet. But this doesn't mean we use all of the fonts Indians use.
- The second image is how clear Nepali fonts look like. Don't confuse with the first image where fonts look a bit traditional.
