Failed to open mixer for jack detection
Using Debian Sid/unstable with PulseAudio 13.0-5 on a Dell Latitude E7250, updating GNOME Shell from 3.36.2 to 3.36.3, logging out and back in, GNOME Shell only showed the dummy audio device. Looking at the user journal, the message below is shown.
$ journalctl --user -u pulseaudio -b

All sound devices were still shown in AlsaMixer. In GNOME Settings all outputs were also shown, but changing to them didn’t have an effect. Restarting PulseAudio fixed the issue.
