better multichannel soundcard mic support
I use two different USB sound cards with two mic input channels. By default each one has both mics connected as a "stereo mic input". This means for practical purposes my mic level is reduced by half. The work around for this is painful, and requires me to either kill my web browsers then restart pulseaudio, or more easily, restart X/Wayland any time the sound card is connected or disconnected.
work around:
load-module module-remap-source source_name=Scarlett-4i4_Mic-1 source_properties=device.description=Scarlett-4i4_Mic-1 master=alsa_input.usb-Focusrite_Scarlett_4i4_USB_D8A91YP078561C-00.multichannel-input remix=no channels=1 master_channel_map=front-left channel_map=mono load-module module-remap-source source_name=Scarlett-4i4_Mic-2 source_properties=device.description=Scarlett-4i4_Mic-2 master=alsa_input.usb-Focusrite_Scarlett_4i4_USB_D8A91YP078561C-00.multichannel-input remix=no channels=1 master_channel_map=front-right channel_map=mono set-default-source Scarlett-4i4_Mic-1
Can there be a better way to choose the channels in a source? Hopefully that can be detected automatically when the soundcard is added or removed. Thank you
