No way to turn off automatic volume control
Automatic volume control appears to be always enabled for input microphones. I tried to change the microphone volume using both my internal laptop mic and an external microphone plugged into audio port mic. There just isn't a way to turn AVC off.
This caused a problem with zoom as my microphone volume kept dropping to about 10-20%, making hard for people to hear me. If I manually change the setting to 100%, everyone in the zoom call can hear me. However, within a few seconds, the volume drops again to 10-20%!
At the very least, an audio mixer/control program like pavucontrol should have the ability for the user to turn off automatic volume control so that the microphone input volume settings won't change unexpectedly.
