Random stuttering/popping while playing audio
- PipeWire version (

from/etc/os-release

Description of Problem:
Audio randomly stops and pops while listening to audio. I have verified that this happens on Firefox, Chromium and Strawberry. I have tried using Pulseaudio through dnf swap
with no improvements (popping still occurs), while it goes away when completely uninstalling the Pipewire stack and installing Pulseaudio, so I suspect the problem is somewhere in Pipewire.
I have tried removing several config files for Pipewire (can't remember which ones - please list every configuration directory that you know so that I can actually test it) and deleted /var/lib/alsa/asound.state
, again with no improvements around the random popping.
This has started happening after switching to a new installation, to which I moved over /etc/
and ~/.config
. I'm not sure whether this contributes to the problem but I'll add this just in case.
I have not been able to find any logs with journalctl -xe
or with dmesg
. Any logs I'm missing?
How Reproducible:
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open some audio source
- Wait for some time
Actual Results:
Audio plays, but popping/stuttering occurs from time to time, making for a very annoying experience.
Expected Results:
Audio should play smoothly with no stuttering or popping occurring.
