Firefox with pipewire-pulse is unusable
Quoting this message by @marmarek:
To summarize: recording audio (jitsi audio call) with Firefox + pipewire-pulse is unusable, while with real pulseaudio it works perfectly fine. IIUC Firefox doesn't support native pipewire audio yet (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=pipewire) I can reproduce it on plain Fedora Workstation 38 Live USB, no Qubes OS involved at all.
Original report:
If I use Firefox and an audio source (Qubes virtual audio source) that is 44100Hz, crackling makes the recorded audio unusable. If I explicitly set
default.clock.rate
to 44100, I only get intermittent audio every few seconds or so. If I setdefault.clock.rate
to 44100 in bothpipewire.conf.d
andpipewire-pulse.conf
, things still do not work.
