Carla crashes unexpectedly.
- PipeWire version: 0.3.60
- Distribution and distribution version: Arch Linux
- Desktop Environment: KDE Plasma 5.26.3
- Kernel version (
uname -r
): 6.0.9-zen1-1-zen
Description of Problem:
When using carla, it likes to sometimes unexpectedly just crash. This also happens on my other computer. I have had this issue for months but it seemed to have gotten better lately... I think, but this was never a problem when I was using PulseAudio with JACK2.
How Reproducible:
I haven't found the cause or a way to succesfully reproduce it yet.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Load up Carla with your project.
- Use your computer as normal.
- Wait...
Actual Results:
Carla crashes unexpectedly.
Expected Results:
Carla shouldn't crash.
Additional Info (as attachments):
I am not sure how helpful these are, but anyways here they are... carla_log2.txt carla_log.txt
-
pw-dump > pw-dump.log
: pw-dump.log
I am also not sure if I should report this on the kxStudio's Carla github repo or this is specifically pipewire-jack problem... but I believe this the latter, because as I said previously, this wasn't a problem when I used native JACK2 with PulseAudio.
But some kind of a user action definitely triggers it (not GUI related, as I always start carla headless (--no-gui option)), as my latest carla crash happened after I plugged in my headphones into my laptop. And the other computer that I have that has basically the same setup didn't crash for 14 days (on my laptop that I use everyday it lasts about two days before it crashes) when it was basically just idle, not even using the computer, but after I started using it, I have done something that crashed carla (but I don't have logs of that, beside the I believe useless backtraces as I don't have the debug package installed) but for the love of god I can't come up with what could have triggered it.
On my laptop I use this command line to start my carla project pw-jack carla-jack-multi /home/snipex/carla-new-new.carxp -n
(-n means "no gui")
