pipewire installation on Manjaro breaks USB camera
- PipeWire version (
pipewire --version
): Compiled and Linked with 0.3.48 - Distribution and distribution version (
PRETTY_NAME
from/etc/os-release
): Manjaro Linux - Desktop Environment: XFCE
- Kernel version (
uname -r
): 5.16.14-1-MANJARO
Description of Problem:
I'm finding that whenever I have pipewire installed instead of pulseaudio, the audio streams work great, but my USB webcamera doesn't work in some applications -- it looks like it receives only a few frames, and then loops through them, stuttering. cheese
experiences this, Zoom and Slack both receive no video, but guvcview
displays video cleanly.
How Reproducible:
Highly consistent
Steps to Reproduce:
- Install
pamac install manjaro-pipewire
(removing pulseaudio conflicts in process) - Reboot system
- Open
cheese
or try to use camera in an app -
guvcview
works
This has been tried both with and without the pipewire-v4l2
package
Actual Results:
Camera stutter or camera unavailable in applications
Expected Results:
Working webcam video without additional settings needed

I'm happy to try anything else, but I'm not sure where to look for what might be going on right now -- journalctl
hasn't shown any errors.
