Crowded /etc/alsa/conf.d causes quirky sound behavior
Disclaimer:
The issue turned out to be not a specific application but everything using a Alsa sound device and in the end I could track down the strange behaviour to an crowded Alsa configuration folder, see my comment below.

Description of Problem:
I've a Java Webstart game called Stellwerksim, running it with OpenWebStart. This game has a self-test on startup built in. The sound check is audible, but the application never goes to pass the test on all tested systems other than Fedora. The main difference is, that on Fedora pipewire was enabled by default already, while on Debian, Ubuntu and Manjaro I first had to disable pulseaudio and install & enable pipewire.
I'm curious if it's just a configuration I maybe have to make on the other systems to get it to work there as well or what's causing this.
How Reproducible:
replace pulseaudio with pipewire on Debian, Ubuntu or Manjaro with pipewire, see it not working. Install Fedora having pipewire out of the box it's working fine.
Steps to Reproduce:
- install OpenWebStart
- sign up on Stellwerksim
- download the application
- run it see the self test never pass the audio test
Actual Results:
Application won't start as self-test never passes or fails, just stays pending
Expected Results:
Self test passes and application starts
