No sound below 100Hz in XPS 15
Hi!
I hope it's okay that I post around here, I believe this might not be a PipeWire issue, but I don't know where else to ask for help. I have a dell xps 15 9510, and I am experiencing a strange issue: I don't get any speaker output for frequencies below ~100Hz. I have asked around Manjaro forums and Bugzilla, but no one has been able to help me so far. Now I am out of ideas so I thought I should try to reach out also here and see if anyone with experience can point me towards a solution.
So far, I've tried a bunch of different things trying to fix it, which have provided no results:
- Playing with HDAJackRetask shows me that actually, the four speakers on my laptop are working well (two of them are subwoofers), so no retasking is needed. I believe the subwoofers are properly connected since this kernel fix.
- Changing PipeWire configurations to enable upmixing and setting a lfe cutoff frequency (as suggested here) didn't do the trick either.
- The last thing I've tried was sniffing verbs as it was done for this issue, but this didn't work either (the verbs I sniffed seem to be working but I'm still missing the range <100Hz, although the sound was working fine with the Windows VM). This made me think that the problem might not be at the driver level as I originally thought, so I'm lost again.
Does someone have an idea of what can I try to do now to fix this?
Thanks heaps!
