mSBC regression
- PipeWire version (
pipewire --version
): 0.3.44 - Distribution and distribution version (
PRETTY_NAME
from/etc/os-release
): Alpine Linux v3.15 - Desktop Environment: sway 1.7
- Kernel version (
uname -r
): 5.16.x - BlueZ version (
bluetoothctl --version
): 5.63
Description of Problem:
With recent versions of pipewire any attempt to record or play sound with mSBC codec produces loud elecrical distorted sound that lasts even after I stop the playing/recording for around 30 seconds. Nothing is actually being played or recorded. Only started to happen recently (0.3.43 - 0.3.44, not sure in which version exactly). Other codecs work just fine, including cvsd and all a2dp ones.
How Reproducible:
Seems to be reproducable on every headset I have (3 of them).
Steps to Reproduce:
- Turn on bluetooth, connect to the headphones.
- Switch codec to mSBC using
pactl set-card-profile 134084 headset-head-unit-msbc
. - Start recording or play any sound in any application.
- Enjoy your ears bleeding.
Actual Results:
Loud distorted sound that reminds electric discharge.
Expected Results:
Audio being played/recorded.
