A handful of fixes for issues found with static analysis

Hi. I've got a message from the static analysis crowd here at Red Hat asking me to review potential issues identified with their static analysis tooling in preparation for RHEL 10.

Here's a bunch of patches that address everything that has been found. Some are not real bugs and none has a security impacts. Nevertheless there's a couple actual bugs. Hope it's okay to submit them all together.
