Kernel crash when seeking to the last frame of a video with VA-API in VLC

Describe the issue
When seeking any video (at least h264 encoded), to the last frame of the video in VLC, by using the mouse to drag the point there while the video is playing, the entire system crashes. Journalctl reveals amdgpu
throwing a lot of errors. This bug cannot be reproduced when HW video acceleration is disabled or set to VDPAU. Only VA-API causes it.
The system appears to become completely unresponsive after this, no audio, no video, the log stops.
Regression
No idea if this is new, it does not occur if you let it playback to the last frame normally, only if you seek with mouse drag while the video is still playing.
