GCN GPU ring stalled/ failed to allocate memory on AM3+ platform hang
- OS: Debian 11/12 on OMV6/7
- GPU: R9 270 (gcn 1.0)
- Kernel version: i've tried 5.10, 6.1, 6.6
- Mesa version: trancoding only works with 23.0.4. (later versions it doesnt) (will get fixed in the future nyanmisaka/mesa@decc5dad)
- Desktop manager and compositor: nothing
So, the system did work perfectly fine with this gpu on mesa 23.0.4. I changed to AM3+ board (ga970a-ds3p with fx 6300) and since then, when I transcode it works for a bit(5-15min), then I get, depending on kernel (5.10) this error: Log.txt. In newer kernels, it says ring 3 stalled for more than 10244ms and PC crashes, no display. There are many similiar errors when GPU transcode with AM3+ platform: drm/amd#2252
I do think this is mesa driver error, closely related to AM3+ platform. What I did try was disabling IOMMU, it does not change behaviour. it is not PSU nor overheating problem (checked all that). It does work fine with 23.0.4 on LGA775 platform chipset.
