Lenovo Thinkpad T480: TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint not working
Summary
TrackPoint/Trackball shuts off randomly during usage.
The issue seems to be similar to what's described in #826 except that the Trackpad is still discovered in list-devices
when inoperational. However, dissimilar to #826 when the Trackpad is inoperational, the libinput record
doesn't recognize an input from the trackpoint.
Steps to reproduce
On the T480 the Trackpoint stops operating a few minutes (2-18min) after (re-)boot. A reboot will immediately get the Trackpoint in operation again, it fails after a random time-span with unknown cause.
Error cannot be reproduced at will.
- not directly related to palm detection on touchpad
- not directly related to typing on keyboard
- not directly related to switching between touchpad usage & trackpoint usage.
