Thinkpad Fingerprint device cannot be detected
Hi,
I'm trying to add my fingerprint device to the device list under libfprint/libfprint/drivers/synaptics/synaptics.c
and manually build the package.
But after restarting the fprintd.service I get some errors.
I see the following in the log files:
systemd[1]: Starting Fingerprint Authentication Daemon...
kernel: [ 93.326475] usb 1-9: reset full-speed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd
fprintd[6581]: Firmware version 6.7 with build number 164 is unsupported
fprintd[6581]: Ignoring device due to initialization error: Unsupported firmware version (6.7 with build number 164)
dbus-daemon[1118]: [system] Successfully activated service 'net.reactivated.Fprint'
systemd[1]: Started Fingerprint Authentication Daemon.
systemd[1]: fprintd.service: Succeeded.

Apologies if this is not related to fprintd but the kernel, but thought this would be the place to start the conversation.
The fingerprint sensor is on a ThinkPad P52 laptop.
Any help is much appreciated!
