Support dual subtitles
Please support displaying two subtitle files.
Reasons for using dual subtitles are:
- review subtitle files
- watch a video with multiple people that do not understand the same language
- learn or improve language skills
Important to note is that the timing of subtitle files can differ, hence displaying needs to be done independently. Although often the timing can be identical, better to not assume it is for the implementation.
The support can be in two different ways. Which is to be used greatly depends on the user and what kind of video is being watched in terms of obscuring too much. The modes can be:
- single subtitles, shown at the bottom (currently supported)
- dual subtitles bottom, primary first, below secondary (requested)
- dual subtitles split, primary at bottom, secondary at top (requested)
Please see the attachment for how this looks. Here the grey subtitles are the position of the single subtitles. In black are the primary subtitles and in blue the secondary.
