vpdu: add support for more platforms than just x86_64-bios

This series enable testing more than just x86_64/bios machine configurations.

I would have liked being able to read back the boot configuration through, for instance, port labels... however this seemed like a bit more work than what was absolutely necessary for the goal of merging !258 (merged).
