Cannot update email address on account created with social sign-in
I created my account using Social Sign-In (via github) rather than setting a password. It somehow picked up an old email address, which no longer works. I am now trying to update my account to use my correct email address, but gitlab won't let me.
- I tried to change my email address on my User Settings page, but gitlab demands that I enter my password. I don't have a password, obviously, because I use Social Sign-In.
- I tried setting a password on the Password page, but gitlab demands my old password. I don't have a password, obviously, because I use Social Sign-In.
- I signed out and clicked the "Forgot your password?" link, but gitlab's only way to do this is to send a password reset link to my old email address, which doesn't work. No option to verify my identity using my already-linked Social Sign-In account.
- I managed to add an additional email address to my account, and verify it, but gitlab won't let me set it to be my main address.
Results: I don't get any notifications at all, so I have no idea whether people are waiting for me to respond to them. My account is also vulnerable to takeover by a hostile actor.
This is more than a little frustrating.
