console color broken with mgag200 drm/kms on fujitsu rx300 s6 server
when setting up proxmox ve 8.0 (kernel 6.2) after graphical install and in textmode setup, i'm getting orange coloured background in console and text is nearly unreadable with that
with nomodeset the problem goes away
same with debian bookworm and kernel 6.1.
after graphical install, textmode console is blue, sometimes yellow or pink and looks ugly/hardly readable.
textmode install works fine, but it seems, by default there is no drm/kms active at installation time, so install is all fine, but on first boot the same issue occurs like after graphical install - textmode console is coloured
it worked with pve 7.x and debian 11, so i guess some of those changes in 2022 ( https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/log/drivers/gpu/drm/mgag200?id=421dabcad1c69e02a41c0d601aefbc29ee3f5368 ) may have broken that
kernel 6.0 works
graphics adapter is mga g200e onboard, which is somewhat popular in servers from around that time.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrox_G200 "Matrox G200 series, especially the G200e is still a popular choice for server motherboard manufacturers, like Dell's PowerEdge series, due to its robustness, low power consumption and limited features needed just for VGA display.[5] "
thomas zimmermann and Jocelyn Falempe have been informed via email
i currently try to git-bisect
