No HDMI signal i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* crtc 131: Can't calculate constants, dotclock = 0!

No signal comes from the HDMI connection, after booting with hdmi connected dmesg logs the error message i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* crtc 131: Can't calculate constants, dotclock = 0! but eDP display works properly. If the kernel cmd line parameter i915.modeset=0 is set or if the i915 module is blacklisted so the HDMI works with a fixed resolution with no further options as screen rotation for example.

  • System information:
    • System architecture: x86_64
    • Kernel version: 5.19.0-051900rc6-generic from drm-tip, also tested on 5.19.0-rc6+, 5.15.0-41-generic for Ubuntu and 5.15.38 for Debian 11.
    • Linux Distribution: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
    • Machine or mother board model: DN50 dmidecode_DN50.txt
    • Display connector: eDP OK HDMI NOK
    • Full dmesg with debug information: dmesg_DN50.txt
    • lspci: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Alder Lake-P Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c) lspci_DN50.txt
