Ryzen 7730U iGPU 1600x1200 mode causes black screen
Brief summary of the problem:
The 1600x1200@60Hz mode causes main laptop monitor to black screen even though the mode is advertised by the driver.
Hardware description:
- CPU: Ryzen 7730U
- GPU:04:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Barcelo [1002:15e7] (rev c4)
- System Memory: 16gb
- Display(s): builtin laptop, 1920x1200
- Type of Display Connection: eDP
System information:
- Distro name and Version: Garuda Linux
- Kernel version: 6.8.8-zen1-1-zen
- Custom kernel: Zen Kernel
- AMD official driver version: N/A?
How to reproduce the issue:
Change display to 1600x1200@60Hz and screen goes black with no mouse cursor. Occurs in both Wayland and X11 sessions. This is done automatically if you plug in another display with that resolution but I believe that is related to this KDE bug. In the case of this happening when plugging into secondary monitor, the secondary monitor will still function and show output but the main laptop monitor will not. To see a longer conversation of how this was discovered, see my bug report to KDE here.
