Display stuck in HDR after disabling HDR
Brief summary of the problem:
Continuation of this bug originally reported in KDE: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480648
After enabling HDR and attempting to return to SDR, the monitor remains stuck in HDR mode which produces extremely bright and oversaturated colors.
Returning to HDR from this state works fine.
The problem does not occur in Windows.
Hardware description:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7950X
- GPU: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Navi 21 [Radeon RX 6800/6800 XT / 6900 XT] [1002:73bf] (rev c1)
- Display(s): InnoCN 27M2V
- Type of Display Connection: DP
System information:
- Distro name and Version: Arch Linux
- Kernel version: 6.8.9-301.fsync.fc40.x86_64
- Custom kernel: This AUR package
- I have tested the
linux
,linux-zen
, andlinux-lts
kernels and they all exhibit the same behavior. - AMD official driver version: Mesa 24.0.6-arch1.2
How to reproduce the issue:
- Enable HDR through display settings
- Disable HDR through display settings
- Display is now stuck in HDR mode while displaying SDR content
