7900XT can't reach 4k@60hz over the USB-C displayport

I hope I wasn't just having a bad cable... But this cable I have claims to support 4K@240hz, yet I am only able to get 4k@30hz or 1080p@60hz over the USB-C port. The HDMI port works fine.

Kernel version is 6.8.2

xrandr reports: xrandr: Configure crtc 1 failed

/var/log/Xorg.log:

[   563.569] (EE) modeset(0): failed to set mode: No such file or directory

Do you get the same issue when running a Wayland session (without changing other parameters)?

Experimented for a bit, by adding custom modelines the highest refresh rate I am able to reach at 4K was about 54.5Hz.
