Rhythmic stutter in games after changing workspace while hardware encoding
OS: Arch Linux
MB: X470 GAMING PLUS (MS-7B79)
Kernel: Linux 6.7.7-AMD-znver3 x86_64 (tried linux-zen from stable repo, too)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT
Memory: 32032 MiB
Mesa: 24.1.0_devel.184400.62fa5c8d0f0-1 (used previously mesa 23 from stable repo, was same)
With this hardware I have rhythmic stutters if I ever had any game in the background (switching workspace in sway and hyprland). I have this issue and the hardware (new installation) since mid. October and tried a lot of things but just can't get rid of that. This doesn't happen always, sometimes I need to be longer (several minutes) on other workspaces before the stuttering begins.
You can see the platform stutter like every second and the whole screen while I'm moving the camera.
I'm on the FPS cap and even the frametimes are flat during the stutters.
- tried sway and hyprland
- That's why I assume a amdgpu issue
- disabled gamemode
- disabled mangohud
- disabled VRR
- disabled/enabled vsync
- set the performance level of the GPU to 3D
Nothing of these helped...
I don't have any more ideas and couldn't find anything related to this.
