Rx 6700: *ERROR* hw_init of IP block <smu> failed -62
Brief summary of the problem:
I have an interesting problem with my GPU on linux. When I install linux I have to add "nomodeset" or go in compatibility mode to be able do get into the desktop, with out this I get a blackscreen and "No Signal" on my monitor. This blackscreen happens every time I try to boot into linux and I've tried to reinstall different distros multiple times(Arch, POPos and Mint). I've also tried this on windows 11 without any problems, and I believe it's a driver issue. I use the displayport to get signal to my monitor, and I also experience the same problem with an HDMI.
I tried to fix this problem earlier in September 2023 and couldn't find a solution to get my GPU to load with the AMDGPU driver. I got it to work with the AMDGPU proprietary driver, but after a firmware update the problem was back.
