System reboots when attempting to encode with AV1_AMF hardware encoder using RX 7800 XT
Brief summary of the problem:
Trying to encode a video using av1_amf encoder in ffmpeg causes computer to reboot.
I apologize if this not a kernel issue. It may be an issue with the AMD proprietary AMF driver.
Hardware description:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core Processor
- GPU: RX 7800 XT [AMD/ATI] [1002:747E] (RADV GFX1101)
- System Memory: 32 GB
- Display(s): 2 display, 1920x1080@75, 1920x1080@60
- 1xDP, 1xDp to DVI
System information:
- Distro name and Version: Arch Linux
- Kernel version: Linux Kalecgos 6.5.5-zen1-1-zen #1 (closed) ZEN SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC
- Custom kernel: ZEN patches
- AMD official driver version: 23.20
- KDE Wayland
How to reproduce the issue:
Attempt to encode any video using av1_amf
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/amd_pro_icd64.json ffmpeg -i input.vob -c:v av1_amf output.mkv
Log files (for system lockups / game freezes / crashes)
Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary in my logs. It reboots every time I try to encode, and the previous boot logs do not indicate anything went wrong.
