[Bug] Very low framerate after 6.5 kernel on 7840hs
I'm using 7840hs cpu and iGPU. Using the 6.5.3 kernel, there is this bug: when the screen is turned off and then the screen woke up, the desktop's framerate becomes very low and there are several flickering colored streaksc. Also dmesg and journalctl have this bug report:
[ 109.248607] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PCI0.G4CE.G4BE], AE_NOT_FOUND (20230331/psargs-330)
[ 109.248620] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PCI0.G4CE due to previous error (AE_NOT_FOUND) (20230331/psparse-529)
[ 109.248634] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PCI0.LPCB.EC0._Q09 due to previous error (AE_NOT_FOUND) (20230331/psparse-529)
Such problems do not occur in the 6.4 kernel.
If I change the firmware for the amdgpu to an older version while still using the 6.5.3 kernel (I got them from the debian sid package, and I've put the firmware files on this github page for convenience),the problem is better. No color flickering anymore, although the dmesg still reports errors.
If I go back to the 6.4 kernel, no matter what version of firmware I use, you will not experience these problems.
Unconfirmed information suggests that not all 7840hs devices seem to have this problem with the 6.5.3 kernel, so I've excerpted my device information below:
