AMD Radeon™ RX 7900 GRE fanspeed cannot be set to manual controll by tuning pwm1_enable=1 under ubuntu 22.04.2 with software version 23.10.3
Hi,
I am trying to test openCL for RX 7900GRE with katago. It seems that the gpu fan speed raise-up delayed a lot under automatic control, that is surrounding temperature of junction/mem as 85/92 degreeC. It is too much higher so that I want to tuning the fans speed manually a bit higher.
I have already installed sensor routines like: sudo apt install lm-sensors fancontrol psensor. Also my openCL installed by latest amdgpu-install(version nr. 23.10.3) with options as --usecase=workstation -y --vulkan=pro --opencl=rocr,legacy.
The problem is, when I try to modify /sys/class/drm/card0/device/hwmon/hwmon2/pwm1_enable from 2 to 1, the value will be return back to 2 automatically, and the modification of pwm1 is also not possible, warning from vim is like:
- "pwm1" E514: write error (file system full?) WARNING: Original file may be lost or damaged don't quit the editor until the file is successfully written!
however the disk space is enough of course actually.
I have also tried with tuning by corectrl, but unfortunately it doesn't work neither.
It should be noted that, I have also test this card, RX 7900GRE, under Win11 with latest recommended Adrenalin 23.7.2, the fan speed can be tuned customized by Adrenalin manually.
So question is how to change the gpu fan speed in ubuntu 22.04.2 with kernel 5.19.0-32-generic then?
BR.
