amdgpu 7900XTX drm tty lag rendering characters and hang

When switching from tty7 (graphical login/DE) to a tty3 console, and trying to type something, while typing the display has observable lag, characters are displayed with a delay or after a short hang. After some time, the following is displayed into dmesg and trying to switch back to tty7 does not work anymore (black screens with no output).

This happens while running kernel 6.1.0-7-amd64 #1 (closed) SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.20-2.

With kernel Linux andreidesk 6.1.0-5-amd64 #1 (closed) SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.12-1 (2023-02-15) x86_64 GNU/Linux, the lag and display hang is there but there is no dmesg WARNING present or displayed into dmesg.

With kernel 6.1.11-x64v3-xanmod1 #0~20230210.d26e42a SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Feb 10 01:19:20 UTC x86_64 GNU/Linux, it seems the lag is not there.
