mesa driver fails to detect edid when using dp to hdmi converter. AMD 6750 xt
I realized that there is a difference between the mesa and the proprietary amd driver on windows and the opensource driver on linux. I use a vinik displayport to hdmi converter cable that is only detected at 640x480 on fedora 37. in windows after installing the proprietary drivers my monitor or better a PHILCO 40 inch TV is finally detected. I believe that the cable I use edid cannot be read and I have already tested several other DP to HDMI adapters and converters and the result is the same. I researched a bit and saw that on the NVIDIA side for linux this is fixed in the proprietary drivers, would this be possible to be fixed in the mesa driver? I left nvidia for amd about 4 months ago on linux and use it as a daily driver. I installed windows to see if the same thing happens, but everything works there when installing the proprietary amd drivers for windows. and I would like to be able to use my TV as a second monitor but I am limited to 640x480 resolution I would like some help to solve this problem since even when using xrandr to set a resolution nothing happens since the biggest problem is the edid and I have already tried to do it the kernel will read the edid it extracts but still nothing happens. both my tv and my monitor only support hdmi and i am out of alternatives. thanks for the help!
