USB4 with TB3 display glitching/going black at random time intervals (680M)
Brief summary of the problem:
- Connect display via USB4/TB3
- Use computer
- Start to see the external screen turning off and on again at random intervals. I can see some tearing or "glitching" when it goes dark and comes back. Feels like sync issues without knowing what I'm talking about. (this is demonstrated by the first dmesg but I only caught one about 5 seconds before the end of the log, sorry I didn't trim it more, drm debug on)
- Continue to use the computer with this occurring at random intervals. Computer gets really hot with no load especially around the USB4 connector.
- After a while/hours of use the internal display also goes dark at the same time as the external. can't switch VT, keyboard/mouse input not working. ( dmesg3, yes 3, shows last 5minutes before I had to reboot, with drm debug on)
- reboot, but then the external display does not work shown by dmesg2 (no debug on)
- Another cold reboot had to be performed for the display to work again.
- Back to where I started with screen going dark at random intervals.
