HP laptop - resume failure after suspend due to nvme error (5.1x, Ryzen 5500u)
Brief summary of the problem:
I am using Kubuntu 21.10 with Windows 10 dual boot on an HP laptop. Every time I try to suspend and resume, the desktop crashes upon resuming. All I can do at that point to restore function is turn the laptop off with the power button. I can sometimes use ctrl/alt/f2 to get into a terminal. When that happens I will often see an nvme error that says nvme nvme0: Device not ready: aborting reset, CSTS=0x3
.

System information:
Versions tried: 20.04, 21.10
Kernels tried: didn't keep track of them but various ones in the 5.1x range all the way through 5.16-rc1. All crash upon resume.
Solutions attempted:
- update kernel. No effect.
- look for relevant BIOS settings. None. Update BIOS. Still none.
- set
nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0
. No effect. - boot into Windows and disable fast boot. No effect.
