Ryzen 5 3400G - no PP_SMC_POWER_PROFILE_CUSTOM?
I've been trying to experiment with a custom power profile on a Ryzen 5 3400G. Since I find 5 ('COMPUTE') gives the smoothest desktop experience I want to try tuning it; the default does not shift up aggressively enough for my taste, giving poor frame-rates in things like GNOME and Stellarium. But when I attempted to set a custom profile via the sysfs pp_power_profile_mode
entry, I only get "Invalid argument" responses.
Looking at the source I ended up at smu10_set_power_profile_mode()
which doesn't implement PP_SMC_POWER_PROFILE_CUSTOM
. I then saw smu10_get_power_profile_mode()
which essentially formats a hard-coded string. It doesn't look like the numbers are used anywhere. Would I be right in suspecting the power profiles are hard-wired for this chip and it's not possible to implement a custom profile (before I foolishly attempt to do so)?
