[amdgpu][5.8.10][RX 5700XT] Driver crash takes down Xorg and sends me back to lightdm.
Brief summary of the problem:
GPU driver crashes, leaving artifacts on-screen until eventually crashing Xorg and sending me back to lightdm.
Hardware description:
- CPU: AuthenticAMD AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (NAVI10, DRM 3.40.0, 5.11.16-arch1-1, LLVM 11.1.0)
- System Memory: 32GB DDR4 @ 3200 MHz
- Display(s): 2560x1440,1920x1080
- Type of Display Connection: DisplayPort-0,HDMI-A-1
System information:
- Distro name and Version: Arch Linux
- Kernel version: 5.11.16-arch1-1
- Custom kernel: N/A
- AMD package version: xf86-video-amdgpu 19.1.0-2
How to reproduce the issue:
This is the first set of occurrences that actually dropped me back to lightdm to login.
Was playing Golf With Your Friends, with opengl mode forced on. (Also happened without force-opengl)
Crashed after an indefinite amount of time.
Found a new method that reliably triggers this bug: With Firefox visit this url and observe.
