Prep for 2.0.0 beta.2

Let's get async proxy out there for some testing. This MR adds the missing docs/book chapter and we can roll-out another beta after this.

My plan is to have a beta.3 after we add the server-side high-level async API (and a few other fixes/improvements). Then wait and fix any reported issues for a bit before calling it 2.0.
