Random macro improvements

I was planning to improve the error message (improving the span) for the error message one gets when an argument or return type in a DBus interface doesn't implement zvariant::Type. I haven't been able to get that working (yet), but thought the test case I introduced for this as well as a marginally related refactoring may be useful anyway.
