Windows font back-ends
This is mostly a question (or a feature request for documentation).
My question is if fontconfig is needed on Windows, and in particular if there are benefits to building cairo with --enable-fc
if we already build with --enable-win32
and --enable-win32-font
.
Some context: we statically link cairo in a distributable Windows module built with mingw-w64. We currently build with both --enable-win32-font --enable-fc --enable-ft
. However because the Windows binaries are redistributed, the fontconfig dependency is a bit of a pain because it requires us to ship a etc/fonts/fonts.conf
file and then each time it starts it updates some cache dir which can take a lot of time.
So I was wondering if what would happen if we build --enable-win32-font --disable-fc
however I can't find the documentation for this.
