NetworkManager will not connect to a wifi with short password
So, I am in a middle of nowhere, bad mobile signal and bad internet connection. But my neighbor has a shiny new broadband and a WiFi and is willing to share his WiFi password with me.
Which is great, but he has a WiFi with "WPA & WPA2 Personal" setting and password only 5 characters long.
Yes, this is invalid, not according to a standard and just outrageous,... but this is how it is. I cannot change that.
Now the funny part. I cannot connect to this WiFi, because NetworkManager does not allow me this connection. "Connect" button is inactive and nmcli says an error "802-11-wireless-security.psk: property is invalid".
I understand that Linux users should be a knights on a white horses, fighting for security and standards... but I am guilty of being not willing of policing other people's WiFi.
So my simple finding is: NetworkManager does not allow connections to the "WPA & WPA2 Personal" networks with short passwords (but connection should be possible).
Is there any workaround for that? Because, you know, I need internet badly... :)
