Wi-Fi: password required on disconnection
I have a desktop PC running Ubuntu 23.04 with

ii network-manager-pptp 1.2.12-1 amd64
ii network-manager-pptp-gnome 1.2.12-1 amd64
installed.
The motherboard has a Wi-Fi chip onboard, that lspci
shows as
0f:00.0 Network controller: MEDIATEK Corp. MT7922 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter
.
It is connected to a Wi-Fi access point, a few metres away. The Wi-Fi connection is flaky at times. The problem is: when the Wi-Fi disconnects, a notification appears, requesting to enter the Wi-Fi password. When the notification is clicked, an edit box appears to enter the password, pre-filled with the stored password for that network. Re-entering the same password (several times, sometimes) makes the network reconnect. This is annoying because
- it is not a password problem. The stored password is correct and hasn't changed.
- the notification requires human intervention. This is especially annoying when the computer is running unattended. The reconnection process could and should be fully automatic, yet the notification makes such automation impossible.
Please let me know if you need more logs, and, in that case, which ones.
