Description
With a new ThinkPad T420 (4180f65) with integrated intel graphic I'm wondering why with a RedHat system (kernel 2.6.32, Xorg 7.3, intel driver 2.16.0) xrandr gives :
$ cat /mnt/E/xrandr.2.6.32
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 2960 x 900, maximum 8192 x 8192
LVDS1 connected 1600x900+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 309mm x 174mm
1600x900 60.0+ 40.0
1440x900 59.9 59.9
1360x768 60.0
1280x800 59.8 59.9
1280x768 59.9 60.0
1024x768 60.0
800x600 60.3 56.2
848x480 60.0
640x480 59.9
VGA1 connected 1360x768+1600+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 700mm x 390mm
1360x768 49.9+
1024x768 60.0
800x600 60.3 56.2
640x480 60.0
while with a Gentoo Linux (kernel 3.5.3, xorg-server 1.12.4, intel driver 2.20.5) I get less LVDS1 modi (different VGA monitor) :
$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1680 x 1050, maximum 8192 x 8192
LVDS1 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
1600x900 60.0 + 40.0
1024x768 60.0
800x600 60.3 56.2
640x480 59.9
VGA1 connected 1680x1050+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 430mm x 270mm
1680x1050 59.9*+
1600x1200 60.0
