Xorg crashes shortly after a chromium window gets focus for the 1st time, but not without a window manager
Crash with 1.20.12-1 mailing list thread has more details. It also has a gdb analyses of a coredump. Apparently only chromium causes a crash. The crash happens instantaneously after the chromium window gets focus. Not before. Other applications seem to work. It is on an archlinux box. There is no problem for another user. The other user is also using archlinux box, most probably with different hardware. It looks like the issue is seen with all xorg versions after 1.20.8-2. I still have to check in which past version it is working correctly. Chromium used to work, albeit with older versions of the linux kernel and of xorg.
Edit: when chromium is run by xinit, without a window manager, there is no crash. Only when I run chromium from my usual environment, the xorg-server crashs. And dumps core. My usual environment has a window manager, and few applications. I suspect it is the window manager. I should try to close all the other windows, and see what happens. Unless I will get a better suggestion.
