Regression libX11-1.8.8: keyboard input gets stuck in openjdk

  • System: Fujitsu U7311, Linux amd64, openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240321/20240325
  • Last known good version: libX11-1.8.7
  • First known bad version: libX11-1.8.8

I utilize JOSM under java-17-openjdk. When libX11-1.8.8 is installed in the system, Java/JOSM stops reacting to keypressed after (this part still unclear) some time or some keystrokes.

Reproducer: After JOSM is launched, download a tiny bit of map data or alternatively start a blank layer (Ctrl-N). Then repeatedly switch between editing commands: repeat*N { a, s }. Within 20-or-so seconds, I can get to a point where no keystroke performs any action anymore.

ibus-daemon is active. Restarting ibus-daemon makes key input work again for a while. Leaving ibus-daemon turned off makes key input work consistently.
