xf86-input-mouse- generates doubleclicks on fast release of the mouse button

Description
I have a Logitech, Inc. MX310 Optical Mouse and I experience the following problem: Whenever I click fast on anything, the system generates a doubleclick event instead of a single click. The actualy thing is that when the period of time between the press and release is really small, the X server for an unkown reason identifies that action as a double click instead of a single click.
I changed the used device to the following:
/dev/input/mice /dev/misc/psaux
The behavior of the mouse is always the described above. Below you can see the portion of xorg.conf that affects the mouse input:
Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "X.Org Configured" Screen 0 "aticonfig-Screen[0]" 0 0 InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice "USB Mouse" "Always Core" EndSection
Section "InputDevice" Identifier "USB Mouse" Driver "mouse" Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" Option "SendCoreEvents" "true" Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" Option "Buttons" "8" EndSection
Versions:
xf86-input-mouse-1.0.4 xorg-server-1.0.2
