Login screen and Xorg invisible without an external hdmi display plugged in
Hi! This started about a month ago. I am using Arch linux, sddm, and KDE on a laptop. Everything is fine when an external monitor is plugged in (HDMI). But there is no graphics if I start the laptop without the external monitor, the laptop screen only shows the boot process, and not switching the graphics mode. If I type my password, it even logs in to KDE, but there is no change on the screen.
The strange thing is that if I plug in the external monitor just for a second, and I press Ctrl-Alt-F2, then back, the issue is fixed. But without plugging in the monitor this doesn't help :(
I would really like to be able to use the X also when an external display is not available. Where you think the problem is, and how can be fixed?
